Local Felony
A felony criminal offense is a serious crime in the United States. There are many different felonies that can range from theft to murder. The penalties associated with these criminal offenses vary greatly depending upon the type of offense. For example, if you are convicted of a felony sex offense, in all likelihood, you will have to register as a sex offender with the local police station. You will be prohibited from living and visiting certain areas.
A crime can be a felony when it is enhanced from a misdemeanor. If a person has a prior criminal history, that history may allow a charge that was originally a misdemeanor to be upgraded to felony. In addition, certain mandatory minimums may be required.
When you are sentenced for a felony, there is a wide range of potential penalties. You may receive a reporting probation sentence, non-reporting probation sentence, work release or a prison sentence. The judges have vast discretion in fashioning a sentence for a criminal offense. When you are arrested for a felony offense, you should contact your Local Felony Attorney as soon as possible.
