Local Misdemeanor
Misdemeanors are considered lesser criminal offenses than felonies. Misdemeanors are generally punished much less severely than if you were convicted of Felony. You are typically eligible for a court supervision sentence for a conviction for a misdemeanor.
Many misdemeanor offenses include driving under the influence, domestic battery, underage drinking, shop lifting, and numerous traffic offenses. For some criminal offenses, there may be a mandatory minimum jail sentence. The jail sentencing range for misdemeanors is usually less than one year.
